Epiduo

Product Description
Epiduo is currently the most recently introduced acne treatment, and they play off the idea that you have to buy a prescription because acne is a medical condition that simply cannot be treated with over the counter products. This despite the fact that plenty of over the counter products use prescription ingredients and plenty of people have treated certain select medical issues with over the counter treatments in general.
Pros
Epiduo does have proven ingredients. They have benzoyl peroxide and adapalene specifically speaking, and the 1% they use of adapalene is all they really need. It is one of those ingredients that actually can work in a concentration that small, which is highly unusual.
Cons
They use adapalene only in that small an amount in large part due to its side effects. Its side effects one could say are actually stronger than its results. Likewise, benzoyl peroxide can cause various and serious side effects to the skin. However, despite what they might tell you, the normal range of concentration is 5-10% for benzoyl peroxide, not the 2.5% they use.
Summary
Epiduo’s advertising is based on myths and misconceptions to be completely honest. They obviously don’t care about perpetuating a myth, because it makes them money. Moreover, their formula is weak at best. They don’t even use the normal and proven amounts of an ingredient despite their prescription status. Even over the counter options do better than that in general terms.
